The Haunting of Sunshine Girl

TheHauntingOfSunshineGirlThe Haunting of Sunshine Girl: Paige McKenzie

So some of you may have heard about this book already from the YouTube web series that it’s based around. To be honest, I didn’t. Haha. I was walking around Chapters one day and discovered this book and while I do plan on making time to discover what the web series is all about, I haven’t yet. Not because I’m scared or anything (I mean, I am but that’s beside the point), but because I’m just so busy with everything that’s going on in my life right now… well that’s the story I’m going to stick with anyways. 🙂

If you like horror then this is a book that I highly recommend you look out for. I am a huge fan of the horror genre in books but I’m the biggest chicken you’ve ever met when it comes to horror movies. That’s probably why I’m dragging my feet to actually watch the YouTube series… haha. I thought this book was amazing though. It’s about this girl, Sunshine Griffith who moves to Washington with her adoptive mother because her Mum got a job offer for work. Right away, and I’m talking the first chapter, you can just picture the house that McKenzie is describing and it is C-R-E-E-P-Y. You know that if this were a movie, bad signs are written all over this new house. Anyways, book continues with weird incidences that happen in the house that only Sunshine seems to notice. She never feels warm in her house and she keeps hearing this creepy laughter at night. It is such a thrilling book that I had to read it all in one sitting- there was no way  I was going to bed until I had figured out what was going on in this book. This book is about possession and spirits so if that kind of horror does not appeal to you then maybe this isn’t the book for you but I highly recommend this book to anyone! The descriptions in this book are amazing that when reading you can just picture the creepy things McKenzie describes happening. Overall 10/10 in the teen horror genre!
